Caregiver

Information and Resource Services

Caregivers are special people, with special needs.  They may be providing assistance to an older family member or they may be raising a grandchild.  The Rock River Center is the Caregiver Resource Center for Ogle County,  offering resources and choices for family caregivers.

Rock River Center’s Resource Center can provide the tools needed to improve a person's independence and quality of life. Whether information is needed on housing, home care, insurance, assistive devices, long term care, public benefits, etc., our professional staff can assist in a way that allows the best decision to be made for the particular situation. Once a resource and eligibility is determined, staff will assist with the appropriate application for benefits.

Emergency help may be available to pay for items caregivers need to provide better care to their loved ones, such as medical needs, bath benches, home medical equipment and supplies, minor home renovation and repairs, transportation, and other needs.

Depending upon availability, funds may be available to help pay for respite care.  Respite care gives caregivers a brief period of relief or rest.  It may give the caregiver time to take a vacation, or simply time away from the care recipient.  Funds are for temporary relief and not intended to replace ongoing care.

Caregiver Training and Education
Workshops and training opportunities are available for caregivers who need to learn new skills to care for a family member.  Workshops and training opportunities are offered at times and locations convenient to caregivers.
