Prescription & Pharmaceutical Assistance

The new Medicare Prescription drug coverage began in 2006, affecting every older and disabled American on Medicare.  All on Medicare are now able to participate in a prescription drug plan. At the same time, the State of Illinois offers the Illinois Cares Rx (formerly Circuit Breaker prescription or Senior Rx) program to eligible Illinois residents.

Choosing the right Medicare drug plan and filing the appropriate applications may require assistance from trained specialists. Those needing help to pay premiums, co-pays and deductibles may apply for a low income subsidy.

Rock River Center’s caseworker’s receive ongoing training by the Illinois Department of Insurance, the Social Security Administration, the Illinois Department of Revenue, the Illinois Department on Aging, and the Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging, in order to assist you with the latest information related to your prescription needs. To simplify this process you are able to do an online application or look up the status of your application at www.cbrx.il.gov

If you would like to speak with someone about pharmaceutical assistance, there is specially trained staff at Rock River Center to help answer questions about your drug coverage, assist you in applying for benefits, or advocate for you should you encounter problems with your prescription coverage. Assistance is free of charge, although donations are gratefully accepted.
